I found this image on life.com as part of an article about the 30 dumbest inventions of all time. It's called the rainy day cigarette holder.
These all by an artist called Pixeloo. He takes photos of celebrities, mashes them up, and photoshops them to look like different cartoon characters. The Homer one is a little creepy, but I thought it was funny.
We talked briefly about voyeurism a few classes ago, when we were looking at street photography. It made me think of the the above images taken by photographer Rich Waters of a girl about to jump from the Golden Gate Bridge. The photos appeared in the documentary "The Bridge", for which Waters was also interviewed. In the film Waters talks about the disconnect between photographers and their subjects. Although he was taking these pictures Waters say it took him a few minutes to fully processing what was going on, he felt very separated from the situation. Luckily, Waters did make the connection and pulled the girl back over the railing before she was able to jump. The whole documentary is very fascinating but also unsomfortable because of the voyeuristic aspect, it's on hulu if anyone is interested. I also posted some of Waters other work, he does mostly really boring commercial photography.
I have been looking at Robert Frank's work a lot recently and loving it, and found some great street photographers at http://www.in-public.com/ who were inspired by his work.......
